Are tours of Warfield Air National Guard base available?
Yes, three public tours per year. The 175th Wing has an active base tours program. The purpose of the 175th Wing Base Tours Program is to enhance community relations and show support to youth groups, community organizations, and educational institutions throughout the State of Maryland.
Who is eligible for these tours?
Base tours are available to community organizations, youth groups, and schools in Maryland. Tour requests from aviation enthusiasts, photographers, and tourists are not normally granted. Children in tour groups must be at least seven years old.
How long does it take for a tour request to be approved?
Coordinating with appropriate base agencies for tour requests a minimum of three weeks in advance of the tour. Please be aware that requests that include foreign nationals require special permission and take considerably longer to approve.
What is included in the tour?
Tours include viewing a static display an A-10C Thunderbolt II attack fighter and a C-130J Hercules tactical airlifter and a visit to the base fire department.
If approved, when will the tour take place?
If a tour is approved it will be during one of our of three public tours per year, March, July, and October. The March and October tours will be scheduled during the Sunday of a UTA weekend between 1200 and 1400. The July tour should be scheduled during the technician workweek, on the third Thursday of the month. These tours will be limited to a maximum of 40 participants.
