The 175th Wing would like to present A1C Chantel Jewel Cooper, 175th Maintenance Operations Flight, as this month's Spotlight Airman. Cooper has been with the Maintenance Operations Flight for about three years and works full time with the Maryland Air National Guard in the same position.

Here is some more information about A1C Cooper:

Hometown: Baltimore, Md.

Joined the MDANG: April 20, 2011

Total Service years: <3 years

Family: 4 year old twin daughters

Last book read: At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks

Favorite food: All Food

Favorite Sports Team: Baltimore Ravens

Background:

I was born and raised in Baltimore, Md. After high school I moved to West Virginia for college (Potomac State and Marshall University). I moved to Norfolk, VA after college, married and divorced a US Navy Sailor. I returned home, worked at Comcast Cable until joining MDANG.

Military Career: After hearing a radio advertisement about the Guard, I decided to join for education and retirement opportunities. I started as a non-destructive inspections technician (I really enjoyed NDI). I applied and was selected for a full-time maintenance management analysis position. I monitor, collect, assemble, and audit data for reports and briefings. I initiate special studies and investigations, and perform statistical analysis. I report findings to managers with recommendations. I inform managers of significant factors affecting the mission. I manage and operate maintenance management information systems (MIS), and perform functional system administrator (FSA) duties.

What brought you to the MDANG?  How have you enjoyed your time here?

I have had the pleasure of holding two great AFSC's and I absolutely enjoy my time here, although there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding this base and our mission. I have met some great people, gained wonderful experience and would do it all over again if I had the chance.

Favorite Military Memory: Graduating from Maintenance Management Analysis Technical School as top graduate.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about learning, loving and experiencing all that life has to offer. Inspiring my beautiful twin daughters to realize all of life's potential is very important to me. If I could travel and enjoy the pleasures of other cultures to include education, art, and food, that would be ideal. I am also passionate about human rights. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with those special to me.
