BALTIMORE -- The aroma of Maryland crab cakes wafted across the airfield at the Warfield Air National Guard Base in Baltimore, home to the 175th Wing, on June 7 as family, friends and employers joined with Guardsmen to enjoy a day of fun and games during the 2009 Family and Employer Appreciation Day.

Climbing up into a C-130J cargo aircraft, watching Guardsmen load weapons onto the A-10C Warthog, or using a fire hose to put out pretend fires were just a few of the displays Guardsmen shared with their guests.

The Family Readiness program had a large set-up to inform all family members of programs available.

Various squadrons offered venues such as freshly prepared crab cakes and roast beef sandwiches.

There was even the opportunity to dunk their favorite commanders and senior non commissioned officers.

All along the flightline live music could be heard as groups provided music. A crowd favorite, Brig. Gen. Guy M. Walsh, commander of the 175th Wing, contributed to the music when he grabbed a guitar and rocked out to cheering guests.

The 175th Wing's Chief's Council organized the event.
