2011 Outstanding Senior non-commissioned officer of the Year

12/5/2010 - Baltimore -- The Maryland Air National Guard today recognized three of its members as the state's Outstanding Airmen of the Year during its annual Airman Recognition Ceremony, which was held at Warfield Air National Guard Base in Middle River, Md.

Master Sgt. Stephen L. Gray was named Outstanding Airman of the Year in the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer category. He is assigned to the 175th Security Forces Squadron.

Staff Sgt. Robert S. Jojola, Jr. was named Outstanding Airman of the Year in the Non-Commissioned Officer  category. He is assigned to the 135th Maintenance Squadron.

Senior Airman Caressa M. Gibson was named Outstanding Airman of the Year in the Airman category. She is assigned to the 175th Force Support Squadron.

This year's Outstanding Airmen of the Year will go on to compete with winners from Air National Guard units across the country. If they win at the National Guard level, they will compete with active duty Airmen and reservists from throughout the Air Force.

During the ceremony, the Maryland Air Guard also recognized its First Sergeant of the Year and Honor Guard Member of the Year.

Master Sgt. Stephen F. Koester was named First Sergeant of the Year. He is assigned to the 175th Mission Support Group.

Tech. Sgt. Kandyce J. O'Meally was named Honor Guard Member of the Year. She is assigned to the 135th Maintenance Operations Flight.

The Maryland Air National Guard is composed of the state headquarters in Baltimore and the 175th Wing in Middle River. It employs more than 1,500 people and has an annual local economic impact of more than $111 million.
