Bronze Star

General Scott Kelly, 175th Wing commander presents the Bronze Star Medal to Colonel Kevin J. Campbell, 175th Operations Group commander on January 13th. Campbell distinguished himself by meritorious achievement as Deputy Commander and Commander, 455th Expeditionary Operations Group, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing while engaged in ground operations against the enemy at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan from April 28, 2012 to September 2012. During this period Campbell commanded the theater’s largest combat air group, consisting of over 900 joint forces operating 74 aircraft in nine squadrons and one detachment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He developed robust residual base defense operation synchronizing intelligence inputs from five agencies and aircraft from nine Air Force and Army units with the ground scheme of maneuver within the Bagram security zone.
